Toyota Plans To Maintain Lead Over GM In 2008The battle between the two big names in the auto industry just keeps on getting exciting as ever. It’s like a hot radiator ready to burst anytime! Toyota and GM, both successful in the past years, has taken the rivalry into the next level. According to The Auto Channel, Chang-Ran Kim, a writer for Reuters, reported that the Toyota Motor Corp. will blast off further into rising car markets to attain another successful year of record sales for the coming year. Toyota aims to stay on top as the world's prime automaker in front of General Motors Corp. The Japanese car manufacturer is the world's most gainful and valuable carmaker by now. It is projected that it will sell 9.85 million vehicles in 2008 - way beyond the estimated 9.36 million this year. "The Chinese market has undergone a significant change during the year," President Katsuaki Watanabe told a year-end news conference. "At the beginning of the year, we wondered if the total auto market would reach 8 million, and by mid-year we were looking at 8.5 million. Now it's possible the market will exceed 9 million," he said. "We need to figure out how to meet demand." 12月17日 Panasonic Toyota’s Tests In JerezPanasonic Toyota is aggressively working things out for the 2008 season. With several alterations in their team, Jarno Trulli and the rest of the team are all set to face the odds in the upcoming 2008 Formula One World Championship and wish to have a great season ahead.
According to Motor Sport, Panasonic Toyota Racing concluded the 2007 season with the final test of the year at Jerez in Spain several days ago."We tried to achieve many things today so it was quite busy for me. I used the new slick tyres and they gave a lot more grip and were pretty consistent. We also tried the tyres with 2009 levels of downforce which was quite different and a bit tricky. It was not easy to understand everything because we tried so many different things during the day,” says Jarno Trulli.
"We collected a lot of data and now we must study that and figure out the solution. We tried to do as many laps as possible, which was our main target in order to put mileage on the new rear end and 2008 ECU,” added Trulli.
"That was a successful day and we completed the programme without any issues. We have used up our entire annual allocation of kilometres and Bridgestone Potenza tyres so we can be pleased with that. It was interesting to see Jarno driving on slick tyres today. He is one of the few drivers here this week to have previous experience of Formula 1 slick tyres and his feedback has been very helpful," says Chief Engineer Dieter Gass.
"We have been looking ahead to 2009 more today with the slick tyres and reduced downforce levels and we can be pleased with our progress. Timo has once again given good input into set-up development, including using the slick tyres again. It has been a pleasure having him in the car this week and he has made a strong contribution already to our development,” added Gass. 12月15日 Toyota Tops J.D. Toyota and Its Violin-Playing Robot![]()

It will be under the brand name ‘Toyota U Trust’. The unit will be facilitating sales, purchase and exchange of Toyota and non-Toyota cars. It is in goal to offer prospective customers the chance to exchange their old car of any manufacturer in lieu of a brand new Toyota, which may come with quality Toyota car cover. The unit will also cater customers who would like to exchange their cars for competitively priced used Toyota cars. Finance option is included in the value added services the unit offers at the ‘Toyota U Trust’ outlets. Since India’s used car segment is largely unorganized, car companies felt the need to take initiatives for the matte. It is mainly to spur along new car sales and eventually enhance customer loyalty. Toyota is entering the segment to offer choice, convenience and transparency, which allow customers to make an informed buy or sale. As part of the service, the unit will also provide certifications for the Toyota vehicles sold through ‘Toyota U Trust’ outlets. There will also be warranty included along with it, covering one year or 15,000 kms. Customers will also be granted with up to three labour free services at Toyota dealerships. Warranty will be covering the engine and gearbox/driveline of all certified Toyota cars. M Kawabata, TKM’s deputy managing director, estimated the used car market in India as “almost as big as the new car market”. He called it “important even for the growth of new car segments”. The company is considering approximately 10 to 15 per cent of new car business to be routed through the ‘Toyota U Trust’ initiative. At present, ‘Toyota U Trust’ is available in Chennai and Bangalore. The company plans to extend it to metros and other cities within the next whole year. ‘Most Reliable Car”: a Toyota![]() Prior to getting a quality BMW light bulb online, let me first give you an update regarding Toyota… A recent survey showed that a British-built Japanese car is the most reliable. A reliability table compiled by What Car? magazine and the Warranty Direct company was topped by Toyota Corolla models, manufactured at Burnaston, Derbyshire, from 2000 to 2002. In the survey, Corolla only had three faults per 100 models. But, Honda, taking six cars in places, has dominated the top 10. The second-placed car, which happens to be the Swindon-built Honda CR-V (1997-2002), had five faults in 100 models. Other Honda cars included in the top were the Swindon-built Accord (1999-2003) and the Swindon-built Civic (2001-05). Honda also topped the manufacturers’ league for reliability, where Toyota placed second, while Subaru got the third spot. The least reliable vehicles in the survey included the Alfa Romeo GTV (1996-2003) the most with 97 faults per 100 models, Renault Espace (1997-2002) the second with 77 faults and the Jaguar XK8 (1996-2006) the third with 62 faults. Talking about the manufacturers, the least reliable were Land Rover, Renault and Alfa Romeo. The survey has involved an analysis of data from 26 manufacturers, 133 different models, and 35,000 vehicles. The average age of the cars in the survey was 4.9 years. According to What Car? Group Editor Steve Fowler, “The annual reliability study is a thorough and helpful guide that provides important data for buyers of new and use cars. British workers should also be proud that their products have done as well.” On the other hand, Warranty Direct Managing Director McClure Fisher said, “The data proves that expensive doesn’t necessarily mean reliable. The more mechanically and electronically-complicated a vehicle, especially if it’s of European origin, the more likely you are to suffer problems.” Anyways, I’m proud that Toyota has topped such kind of survey. It is another proof that Toyota is a great automaker. |
